The New Musical Express (NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom which has been published weekly since March 1952.
From looking at the magazines it is obvious that the genre is Indie based, Rock music as the artists who grace the front covers are usually rock bands of indie artists.
NME’s unique selling point would be there established brand identity. They not only have a magazine but also have a website, radio, TV and NME tours.

The layout of this magazine is done well and is very eye catching. They have used a large font to make the main cover line stand out and an attention grabbing main image to go with it.
The masthead of the magazine is in blue to reflect on the house style of the magazine. Orginally, the colour of the masthead is red with white outline which is very effective as it suggest a form of boldness in the magazine.
The large font and white colour of the main cover line stands out almost instantly.

The colour of the main image is in black and white so that the texts on the cover page stands out the most.
The main image represents the band by giving them a rock, edgy feel as the model carries an electic guitar in a weird way.
I think that this cover page design is simple but effective. It seems to be more sophisticated magazine for late teens and people in there 20’s. It looks like that it appeals to people who like the style of music, rock and indie.
